How Does Outpatient Rehab Work?

If you are entering Pennsylvania rehab center for drug or treatment for alcohol, one has a choice between an outpatient and an inpatient rehab program. If the addiction is serious and medically assisted detox is needed for treatment, inpatient care is in a person's best interest. WaterGapWellness provides outpatient treatment to people who have milder addictions. This is an easy and flexible solution to combat alcohol and drug addiction.

A well-designed addiction treatment program will allow people to stop using or drinking alcohol and live a drug-free life. Since addiction is a condition and a chronic condition, the majority of people aren't capable of stopping drinking alcohol or using drugs for just a few days and become cured. This is not how addiction operates. It is possible to believe that you can quit whenever you'd like, but addiction will continue to pull you back. People typically require long-term or ongoing care to reach an objective of continuous abstinence and recovery in their lives.

Beginning Outpatient Rehab

Many people wonder what Pennsylvania East Stroudsburg programs function. The first step of treatment is an evaluation. Patients who enter RCA are assessed with the American Society of Addiction Medicine Criteria (ASAM). This will allow them to identify the type of treatment that is required.

The assessment has six dimensions:

Dimension 1 - Acute intoxicant potential and withdrawal risk. This dimension analyzes an individual's previous and current experiences with alcohol and withdrawal.

Dimension 2: Biomedical issues and complications, examine a person's current health and their health history

Dimension 3--Emotional, behavioral, or cognitive disorders and their problems, examine an individual's thoughts, emotions and mental health concerns

Dimension 4 - Readiness for Change, which measures how interested and eager an individual is to make a change in their life.

Dimension 5: Relapse or continued use, or a persistent issue possibility. This dimension examines the individual's specific relationship to the possibility of relapse, usage that continues or possible problems.

Dimension 6--Recovery and Living Environment, explore a person's recovery or living environment, as well as the places, people and things they interact with

RCA Therapists utilize the data from the six dimensions to decide the proper amount of treatment a patient needs to start their journey to recovery.

The six dimensions provide an overall picture of problems being faced. There is a greater chance of recovery success if you address all the problems rather than just one. When it comes to addiction, there's rarely one single reason for substance usage. The ASAM Criteria pays attention to the entirety of the reasons that lead to a person's current situation.

It's at this point that RCA therapists and patients begin to work together to create an outpatient treatment plan that is most suitable for them.

Different types of treatment in Outpatient Rehabilitation

RCA offers three types outpatient treatment, based on where you live. These services can assist you in getting on your way to recovery. The ASAM criteria plays an important part in the way that each patient is placed with the appropriate program. RCA Therapists will discuss with clients about the options available and assist to select the one that is most suitable for their needs.

RCA's Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) is designed to help patients transition from outpatient treatment to inpatient through a step-down process. It's used for our patients who need a more intense level of care with a greater frequency. Patients engaged in PHP attend sessions for 5 hours a day, 5 times per week for an average of 25 hours per week.

RCA's Intensive Outpatient Program is for people who have completed PHP or are prepared to receive an inferior level of care than PHP as well as inpatient. They require a higher degree of care than inpatients or PHP and are dedicated to remaining sober and remaining in the community of recovery. IOP patients attend 3 hour sessions daily at least 3 times every week.

RCA's General Outpatient Program (GOP) is the least demanding level of outpatient care and aids in preparing patients for long-term, meaningful recovery. The program provides patients with the support to remain clean at home as well as in their community. Outpatient sessions run for about 90 minutes per day , and typically occur 1-3 times per semaine. General outpatient is for an indefinite period of time until it is decided by the Primary Therapist, the patient, and their family members that the level of support is no longer necessary. Patients are now ready to move to the next stage of their healing.

You can see that the three levels in RCA can be used together or independently. The treatment is customized to the individual needs of each patient at the time of need.

Treatment programs can be used as a step-down method or even as a step-up method if patients and their therapist come to the conclusion. Whatever the case we at RCA we offer a program that will aid people with their recovery.
